Dr. O. John Ma currently serves as Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Florida State University College of Medicine. Between 2007-19, he served as Professor and Chair of Emergency Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University, where he also held the position of President of the Professional Staff for OHSU Healthcare between 2011-13. Dr. Ma has edited 20 reference textbooks that have been published in over 10 languages, which include Tintinalli’s Emergency Medicine: A Comprehensive Study Guide and Ma and Mateer’s Emergency Ultrasound. He has served on the Board of Directors for the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He is the recipient of six Teacher-of-the-Year awards. In 2024, Dr. Ma was presented the Emergency Medicine Gold Medal by the Emergency Physicians Association of Turkey for a Career Achievement Award in Advancing Emergency Medicine.
Prof Fatimah Lateef is the first Emergency Physician-Politician/ Member of Parliament in Singapore. She served as an elected Member of Parliament in Singapore from 2006 till 2020, participating in three General Elections. She is Senior Consultant, Director of Undergraduate Training and Education as well as Director of Clinical Service and Quality at the Department of Emergency Medicine, Singapore General Hospital. She is also Adjunct Professor at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, Yong Loo Lin Medical School, National University of Singapore and Lee Kong Chian Medical School at NTU. She teaches part-time at the School of Health Sciences, Nanyang Polytechnic. Her area of sub-specialisation include Prehospital Care Medicine, Cardiovascular and Neurovascular Emergencies. She is passionate about Medical Education, Leadership training, International Humanitarian Medicine and Simulation/ Technology-driven Education. She has worked in various countries including both the UK and USA and served as an International Consultant to MaxHealthcare, India.
Fatimah is the Director of the SingHealth Duke NUS Institute of Medical Simulation, where she is also an active educator and facilitator. With the first three years of formation, she brought the centre through into the global arena with the achievement of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) accreditation. Her strong servant leadership style as well as transformative model for negotiating change and uplifting and enhancing lives, people and organisations, ensures the values she holds close to her heart are executed.
A strong advocate of life long learning and empowerment, she has presented more than 500 abstracts at international conferences and published over 300 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals. She is on several editorial board and a reviewer for some 30 peer-reviewed journals She leads various leadership groups, grooming youths and doctors to excel, which is also befitting her role as a core faculty, nurturing residents in Emergency Medicine. Fatimah is an active volunteer in the area of International Humanitarian Medicine and Acute Disaster Response, where she has led teams to countries such as Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Iraq, Myammar, Africa, Indonesia, China for a variety of causes and assistance. Fatimah continues to work full time, with a fulfilling career in Emergency Medicine, balancing clinical work with research and education, as well as her local and international community responsibilities. For recreation, Fatimah enjoys mountain climbing, cooking, reading and she has completed 15 full marathons.

He is the current group unit Head of Dr Mehta’s Hospitals Chennai and leads Quality and patient safety across the organization and a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at Dr Mehta’s Hospitals, Chennai.
Dr. Saravanakumar is currently the National President of Society for Emergency Medicine India (SEMI).
He was instrumental in designing and bringing EM quality training program, Disaster life support program, National Cardiac life support training program, Law and Emergency medicine. Leadership in Emergency Medicine training program for emergency medicine specialist in India and Implemented a Fellowship in Emergency Medicine certification course under SEMI in 2009 for which he was awarded as “Pioneer in SEMI academics”.
He is also the editor in chief of health QUEST - first of its kind EM safety guidelines for India drafted from quality best practices of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

Dr. Tintinalli is a professor and founding chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
She was president of the American Board of Emergency Medicine (1989-1990), the founding president of the Council of Emergency Medicine Residency Directors, and past-president of the Association of Academic Chairs of Emergency Medicine (2006-2007). . She is editor in chief of Tintinalli’s Emergency Medicine and AccessEmergencyMedicine (McGraw Hill Education).
She was elected to the National Academy of Sciences, Institute of Medicine in 1997. She was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society in April, 2017, by the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. In October 2018 the American College of Emergency Physicians named one of the society’s key leadership awards the Judith E. Tintinalli Award for Outstanding Contribution in Education. In 2019 she was named ‘Fellow of the International Federation of Emergency Medicine’, FIFEM.
Dr. Lisa Moreno is Past President of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, Professor of Medicine at Louisiana State University School of Medicine, Professor of Surgery at Tulane University, former Associate Dean for Diversity at Brody School of Medicine, and newly hired Vice Chair and Professor with Tenure, Department of Emergency Medicine, University of South Alabama. Her multiple awards include the SAEM Marcus Martin Leadership Award, Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Professionalism Award, CORD Distinguished Educator Award, ADIEM Outstanding Academician Award, AAMC Healthcare Executive Diversity & Inclusion Certificate, Order of the IFEM and WACEM Leader of the Year. She is an NIH PRIDE research scholar and the recipient of numerous research grants. Dr. Moreno has over 600 academic presentations, 120 publications, 10 book chapters, and 2 authored textbooks. Her research focuses on health equity, violence prevention and treatment, and viral diseases. Lina Jankauskaite, MD, PhD is professor, principal investigator, and educator at the Lithuanian university of health sciences (LSMU) and a pediatric emergency physician at LSMU HospitalKauno Klinikos. Since 2022 January she started running a chief position in the rare and undiagnosed disease coordination center of LSMU KK. Lina is an active member of the European Academy of pediatrics, EUSEM (European Society of Emergency Medicine, Pediatric branch), and REPEM (research in pediatric emergency medicine). Since 2023 November she is a EUSEM Pediatric branch representative at IFEM (International federation of emergency medicine). Dr. Michael Alfertshofer, one of the leading young scientists globally, completed his medical studies a year ago and is currently pursuing both a degree in dentistry and a residency in maxillofacial surgery at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. His prolific scientific contributions include nearly 100 publications, along with significant roles as an editorial board member and reviewer for high-impact journals, as well as numerous presentations at prestigious international conferences.

Dr. Ezzat Samy Aziz is currently serving as a Professor of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University Hospital. After completing his undergraduate degree at Cairo University, he was appointed as Anaesthetic Resident at Cairo University Hospitals where he gained extensive experience in various anesthetics sub-specialties.
He conducted his PhD thesis in University of Amsterdam, focusing on neonatal intensive care, which resulted in the attainment of his MD degree. His international experience involved working in different hospitals in the Republic of Ireland and the UK, where he gained exposure to European healthcare practices and successfully passed the Royal College of Anaesthetists fellowship examination in Ireland and the UK. In 2002, he was appointed as Professor of Anesthesia, a position that afforded him nearly four months of leave annually. This opportunity enabled him to establish himself as a Visiting Consultant Anaesthetist in Chesterfield, UK, a role he dedicated himself to for 20 years.
He actively engaged in teaching and research, participating in numerous research projects. His expertise was recognized as he was appointed as an examiner for Master and MD degrees in Anaesthesia at Cairo University, as well as for the fellowship exam in Dublin, Ireland. He further extended his reach as an external examiner in various countries around the world.
Professionally, he founded the African Society of Regional Anaesthesia (AFSRA) in 2011 and currently serves as its president. AFSRA spreads knowledge of regional anesthesia across Africa through annual meetings and workshops. Dr. Aziz has also held leadership roles in international anesthesia congresses and joined the committee of Professional Well Being for the WFSA in 2016.

He is the Creator and Director of the “Emergency Course Mexico” (1997
present) which has been taught in different parts of the country and abroad. It
consists of 20 curricular hours with topics related to Cardiovascular
Emergencies and Trauma.
He has taught Basic and Advanced Cardio Cerebro Pulmonary Resuscitation
courses for Doctors, Nurses, Emergency Medical Technicians and the General
Public, in Public and Private Schools of the Country since 1986 - to date. He
was the one who brought the first CPR course by the American Heart
Association in 1989.
He was also the one who taught for the first time together with fellow
physicians in Mexico within the Mexican Society of Emergency Medicine the

Dr. Fares Al-Ali is the first Canadian and American board-certified emergency physician from the United Arab Emirates. He completed the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Emergency Medicine Residency Program at McGill University in Montreal, Canada (2002-2007). In 2008, he completed a fellowship in EMS at the University of Toronto in Canada, followed by a Disaster Medicine Fellowship at BIDMC in Boston, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, as Harvard’s first Disaster Medicine fellow and as co-founder of the program (2009). In May 2011, he obtained his MPH from Johns Hopkins University and later his DrPH in Health Care Management and Leadership from the same institution (May 2021).
Dr. Fares Al-Ali is the former Head of the Emergency Department and former Program Director at Zayed Military Hospital, with extensive military medicine experience, including operational and civil-military deployments. He is the founder and former chairman of the Trauma System Initiative of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the founder and past president of the Emirates Society of Emergency Medicine (ESEM). Dr. Fares Al-Ali spearheaded key initiatives, including the first official Trauma Registry in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi STEMI network involving various stakeholders, and the approval of the UAE “Good Samaritan Law,” the first of its kind in an Arab country. He led the ESEM Conference to become the largest Emergency Medicine Conference in the MENA region and successfully hosted ICEM 2021 in the region, with over 2,500 delegates.
He also served as Executive Director of the Center for Emergency Preparedness and Response (CEPAR) at the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, where he developed a new integrated model of emergency care (the Abu Dhabi Health Emergency Management - HEM Model). I am Dr Robert Leach, an emergency medicine specialist trained in Belgium.
I am currently the Head of the Department of Emergency Medicine in the Centre Hospitalier de Wallonnie Picarde (CHwapi) in Tournai, Belgium. I am also chief of our pre-hospital team (SMUR) as well as coordinator for our nurse-staffed ambulance (PIT). CHwapi is the largest ter-tiary trauma hospital between Brussels and the French Border. I am president of the Medical Pharmaceutical Committee at CHwapi and am a member of the Medical Council.
I have served as Vice-President of EUSEM for two terms before being elected President. I was also chair of the Professional Committee of EUSEM.
I am a member of the Royal Commission for Specialist Recognition in Emergency Medicine. I am on the Scientific Commission at the Medical School at The Université Libre de Bruxelles. I sit on the selection jury for EM candidates, and I am an examiner for the EM specialist exit exam. I am the lead of our residency program in EM and a clinical instructor.

His practice has extended over 5 different countries and he has also participated in educational activities around the world in places like United States, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Australia, United Kingdom, Greece, South Korea, Turkey, Portugal, and Mexico.
He is currently a full-time staff at River Oaks hospital in Houston Texas, USA. He is also a member of the U.S. Army medical command. He has over 25 years of experience as emergency physician with special interest including trauma, point of care ultrasound, department logistics and pain management. Dr. Atriham has received the Physician Recognition Award by the American Medical Association, is a fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Physicians and has been listed in America’s Top Doctors, by the Consumer Research Council of America.
Dr. Dimitrios Tsiftsis is a general surgeon with a supra-specialty in emergency medicine. He received a medical degree from the medical school of the University of Crete and a master's degree in "International Medicine - Health Crisis Management" from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He trained in General Surgery at the University Hospital of Patras.
He is the Managing Director of Nikaia Hospital Emergency Department, Nikaia, Greece, and director of the residency training program for General and Family Medicine. He has assumed numerous positions of responsibility throughout the hierarchy of the Greek National Health System. Among other placements, he has served on the examination committee for the supra-specialty of Emergency Medicine and as a member of several committees of the Ministry of Health for issues related to emergency medicine and the development of Emergency Departments. He has served as the President of the Hellenic Society for Emergency Medicine and on the Founding Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Academy of Emergency Medicine.
Since 2008, he has practiced Surgery as a consultant surgeon at the Surgical Department of the Nikaia General Hospital, with a special interest in Emergency Surgery and Trauma and benign rectal diseases. In 2016, he resigned from the Surgery department and was appointed to the Emergency Department of Nikaia General Hospital. In 2020 for 6 months, he set-up and operated as medical director the Department of Internal Medicine of “Agia Barvara” Hospital, Greece, one of the first stand-alone COVID medical departments in Greece. In 2021 he was awarded the title of the medical supra-specialty of Emergency Medicine by the Ministry of Health.
In 2019 Nikaia Hospital ED was certified as one of the first training centers for the supra specialty of Emergency Medicine. In 2023 Nikaia Hospital was among the first Hospitals to be certified as stroke centers and Level I trauma centers. Nikaia Hospital ED has been awarded various awards for best practices.
He participates as a visiting lecturer in master’s Programs of the University of Crete, the University of Athens as well as Frederick University of Cyprus. He lectures in the training program of the Hellenic Society for Emergency Medicine and several certified seminars on Emergency Medicine.
He has contributed to publications, presentations, and book chapters on emergency care topics. His research interests are related to the administration and operations of the emergency department.
He has been awarded by the Greek Ministry of Health for his contribution to the development of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Amin Kazzi is a Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine & the Founding Former Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the American University of Beirut (AUB). In 2010, he moved on to serve for 5 years as the Deputy Chief of Staff at the AUB Medical Center. In 2016, he was appointed & served as the official Advisor to the Lebanese Minister of Health his Excellency Wael Abu-Faour. As a Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine, he currently practices full-time at the AUB Emergency Department while serving as Editor-in-Chief for the Mediterranean Journal of Emergency Medicine & Acute Care (MedJEM) and as President for the Mediterranean Academy of Emergency Medicine (MAEM) & for the Lebanese Society of Emergency Medicine (LSEM) in the Lebanese Order of Physicians.
Dr Kazzi completed his education (MD) at the School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (MD 1988). He completed categorical residency training in Emergency Medicine in Detroit, Michigan (1991), at one of the first, best and largest specialist training programs in the USA. He was selected a chief resident with distinction then as a full-time faculty in the busy Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit for 1 year. Once Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, he moved back to Southern California, where he practiced for 14 years as a faculty in the Emergency Departments of two of the main Level I Trauma & tertiary care centers: the University of California, Irvine. He also practiced part-time in private community facilities such as at West Bloomfield’s Urgent Care (1989-1990), Cottage Hospital in Grosse Pointe Farms (1991-1992) & the Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Beverly Hills (1992-1993).
Dr Kazzi is internationally renowned in the field of Emergency Medicine (EM) for his leadership role conceptualizing, establishing & running for the last 23 years as Executive Chair & co-President the exceptional Mediterranean EM Congress, the premier multinational international conference for the specialty, as well as for his service in a variety of executive, academic and leadership roles in several professional societies.
This included service as President for the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM), for its California Academy of Emergency Medicine (CAL/AAEM) & the Lebanese Society for Emergency Medicine (LSEM). In 2014, he established the Mediterranean Academy of Emergency Medicine (MAEM), a regional multi-national professional platform to advance the field, the specialty, & the specialist in Emergency Medicine.
He authored more than 60 scholarly publications and has given more than 300 invited presentations across the world. He founded and published as Chief Editor two editions of the “Rules of the Road for Medical Students.” He also played a key role as founding Vice Chair for the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of California, Irvine, and as founding managing editor for the California Journal of Emergency Medicine (which later became the Western Journal of Emergency Medicine). More recently, he was appointed as a founding Chief Editor for the Mediterranean Journal of Emergency Medicine & Acute Care (Med-JEM) which target the developing nations all globally.
Dr Kazzi earned a number of key international leadership and recognition awards, the principal ones being the 2nd out of 3 recipients of the honorary designation as Master of the Academy of Emergency Medicine (MAAEM), the (European Society of Emergency Medicine) EuSEM & AAEM Founder’s Award, the AAEM International Leadership Award, the Resident Association Special Recognition Award, the Robert McNamara National Academic Achievement Award, & the David Wagner Award for longstanding special national (US) impact in the specialty.
More recently, the INDUSEM-WACEM (World Academic Council of Emergency Medicine) granted him in Mumbai “the 2021 Leader of the Year Honorary Award.”
Most importantly, In September 2015, the American Academy of Emergency Medicine Board of Directors voted unanimously to rename its annual international leadership award “the Amin Kazzi International Emergency Medicine Leadership Award” in appreciation for his longstanding exceptional service and profound contribution to AAEM and to the international development of Emergency Medicine.
In addition to his full-time position at AUBMC, Dr Kazzi established, staffed & managed with his late spouse, Dr Maria Cristina Costin Kazzi, the first licensed Urgent Care Center in Lebanon, along with an ambulatory care center in the underserved region of Damour to attend to the medical needs of a region where such infrastructure was ravaged by the civil war & had not recovered. Providing service to more than 14,000 patients per year, Damour Medical Center (DMC) maintained an affiliation with the American University of Beirut (2015-2021).
As of February 2017, and after Dr Cristina Kazzi unfortunately passed away, Dr Kazzi assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer for DMC & as its Urgent Care Medical Director while still serving full-time as a Professor at the American University of Beirut. DMC provides a “Priority Medical Care “ concierge service to select patients and is equipped as a free-standing emergency department.
More recently, as of October 2023, as an elected President for the Lebanese Society of Emergency Medicine, in the Lebanese Order of Physicians, Dr Kazzi organized and participated a series of seminars as well as co- organized a number of national training initiatives to prepare all 150 hospitals in Lebanon to the high risk of war and mass casualty incidents. He was appointed to represent the Order of Physicians and its Lebanese Society of Emergency Medicine as their physician-representative on the Public Health Emergency Operation Center- PHEOC. He recruited, selected and oversaw the physicians who have been, since then, serving in these training efforts, for the Ministry of Health, the WHO, ICRC, MSF alongside with the Lebanese Orders of Nurses and of Physicians.
As a 1985 recipient of the Lebanese Presidential Bachir Gemayel Honorary Award, he had committed to acquiring knowledge and developing skills unavailable in Lebanon, and to bringing that home. So, he did… Dr Kazzi returned to Beirut in 2006 to establish the specialty of Emergency Medicine in Lebanon and establish the proper standards for excellence in delivering emergency medical care. Working with an exceptional team of stellar faculty he recruited and mentored, Dr Amin Kazzi established an academic department of emergency medicine, the first in the Middle East, and the first out of 4 residency programs that have developed across Lebanon over the last 15 years. The AUBMC residency programs is accredited by the “American Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) International.” This is one of 8 in the world. Nearly 15 years after he moved back to Lebanon, the specialty is now established, recognized by most third-party payers and a recruitment target by all hospitals. The specialty has specialist training programs, national conferences or activities and a medical journal and contributions at the national and regional levels. In 1985, Dr. Kazzi promised.
